Privacy

What we store

When you create a trip, we save the trip query (your origin, destination and dates), the routes we generated, and any legs you mark as booked. We never store payment details — bookings happen on operator sites, not here. We also keep pseudonymous logs of how unroute is used — searches, the routes and prices shown, and the links clicked — to improve coverage and pricing. These are tied to a random id, never to your name.

If you give us your email for price alerts, we store it against the trip you saved it on. We use it only to email you about that trip.

What we share

When you click through to a booking site (Aviasales, Booking.com, Tiqets, Klook and others), they set their own cookies and apply their own privacy policy. We pass a random click reference so we can tell which booking came from unroute — it identifies the click, not you. We may earn a small affiliate commission if you book — it never changes the price you pay.

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics, which is privacy-friendly and cookieless. With your consent we also keep our own pseudonymous usage analytics — tied to a random id stored in a cookie, never to your name or email — to learn which routes and events people want and where our coverage falls short. You can decline this when you first visit, and we'll only keep the anonymous, aggregate data we need to run the service.

Cookies

We set small functional cookies for your chosen currency and language, plus one that remembers your analytics choice. If you accept analytics, we also set a random id cookie (no name or email) so we can understand usage across a visit. We don't use advertising cookies and we never sell your data.

Retention

Trips are saved under a random, unguessable link and contain no personal details; we may remove old, unsaved trips periodically. Pseudonymous usage logs are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted; only anonymous, aggregate trends are kept after that. Saved-trip emails are kept while the alert is active and for a short period after.
